CBC Newsworld uses Huffington Post expert again

image - CBC engages Huffington Post expert yet againThe gals at the fair and balanced state-owned CBC Newsworld are promoting the salacious, lascivious, “Sex and the City” movie.  Over the CBC banner “SEX AND SOCIETY”.

Therefore they had to engage an expert (again, for perhaps the 8,000th time) from the far-left Huffington Post (pure, nothing but, all about, yummy left-wing-promoting and rabidly anti-Bush, anti-conservative politics) web site.

It’s news.

Naturally, the Huffington Post expert was introduced without a whisper of the fact that the Huffington Post web site is a far-left-wing politics web site.  She was introduced as someone from the Huffington Post.

EXTRA:

Earlier, a guest expert on another topic was introduced by the CBC anchor with this warning to viewers: “Tasha Kheiriddin is our commentator—she teaches a course on conservative politics at McGill…”

CBC provides pseudo information backed up by dodgy sources

“Canada serious about environment, Harper tells skeptical Europe”, according to the state-owned, socialist CBC.ca propagandists in a headline today.  They then attempt to bolster their own Harper-hitting article… with quotes from their own reporter.

CBC’s chief political correspondent, Keith Boag, travelling with the prime minister, said there was little about the address that was new in policy terms.

“The speech was really just a once-over-lightly about how beautiful Canada is,” Boag said. “How many lakes and rivers and streams and mountains and forests and fields and so on [the country] has.”

Oh really.

But I wonder how he and they and all of the CBC collectively triangulated that “Europe” is “skeptical”—so much so that they find they can properly (using those sound CBC-style journalistic practices of course!) state it so matter-of factly like that in their headline.  They do it so blithely now that they don’t even realize—or care—that they sound every bit like purveyors of the liberal-left’s talking points.  (And perhaps more telling:  by implication, it’s as if we should care what the Europeans think.)

What or who do they mean by “Europe”?  Every European?  How do they know?

Well:

“Most European countries are wary of Canada’s mixed record on the Kyoto Protocol for greenhouse gas emissions…”

There you have it.

But most European countries?  And they’re wary you say.  Ah.  I see.  Wary by what measure, and according to whom, exactly?

Well:

Environmental groups at the Bonn meeting say there is sometimes more words than substance to Canada’s positions on biodiversity and other environmental issues.

Ah.  Words and substance.  Huh.  That’s ironic.  And they’re environmental activists?  Well then.  They’re reliably left-wing or outright Marxist and rabidly “wary” of anything not overtly socialist—PRINT IT!

And Europe is wholly represented now by “environmental groups”.  Duly noted.

As if to repeat their perfidy, the CBC continues:

Harper was hoping to convince European leaders that his plan for fighting greenhouse gases is a good one, despite criticism from environmentalists.

“Was hoping”—but, alas, the unmistakable, purposeful impression contained in the wording “was hoping”, was that he failed.  And besides:

Before he left, some environmentalists criticized the prime minister’s trip for its own greenhouse gas emissions.

They say the air travel involved in taking Harper’s retinue to several European cities in three days will generate more than 400 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, as much as 100 cars produce in a year.

Well damn.  He was doomed from the beginning then, huh?

Someone get Boag on the horn for an expert opinion.

Toronto stock market closes above 15,000. CBC reports it. No really. They did.

Wake the kids, call the dog.  The state-owned socialism-reliant CBC decided not to misinform you by omission, today, and actually reported a historic, record-breaking high close for the Toronto stock exchange today.

I know!  I don’t know what came over them.

I guess maybe when state-paid CBC lawyers warned me some time ago in threatening legalese that “We will be monitoring your site”, they meant it, and they have read some of my more recent blog entries calling them out them for purposely failing to make a big deal out of it when the market is in record-breaking high territory, instead of only mentioning (in full schadenfreude) when it falls, complete with “plunge-o-meters” in the upper right of their Newsworld channel screen.

Or else it’s just a weird coincidence that they have suddenly decided to start boldly reporting actual positive facts as they are actually happening in our country despite their obvious reticence to report any good news when conservatives are in power.

Crickies.  Next thing you know, they’ll be reporting on the myriad positive things going on in Afghanistan and maybe even the 60-90% reduction in violence in Iraq as a result of the troop surge.  Or that Obama is a nincompoop.

Nah.

CBC greets good, positive economic news in U.S. as “less ugly”

Sure don’t want to overstate the possible good news, huh?  Err on the side of abject negativity and foretell possible dismay, just in case!

The liberals’ left-wing economic gloom and doom media dissemination (while conservatives rule) division, the state-owned-for-no-apparent-reason CBC Newsworld (channel 390 in my dial) just noticed the housing market in the U.S. has finally turned a corner, after months of their gleeful daily updates informing us how horrible things are, and how they’re going to get still worse.

The socialism-reliant network does this mostly on their “Your Business” segments —the incongruity of that going right over their socialism-loving heads.

Today’s improving housing market stats in the U.S. are NOT good news for leftists who hoped that a massive recession—nay a full-on depression—was surely in the works, thus proving that that neo-con George Bush and his nutty free-market capitalist ways was and is idiotic, and of course capitalism sucks.

So the CBC introduces the news of the biggest rise in housing starts in TWO YEARS as… “less ugly”.

Nancy Wilson: For the first time in a long time the U.S. housing market is looking less ugly, rather than more!  Jeannie Lee is here with that story and more.  So Jeanie should we take this as a sign that the worst is over for that particular market?

Jeannie Lee: Oh not so fast Nancy!  Because as you know one month doesn’t make a trend though the surprising numbers today gave those who are DESPERATE for a reason to hope a little bit of hope…

Here’s the exact moment after Jeannie Lee said “Not so fast Nancy”, as the gals then both break into happy-looking smiles…
image

“One month doesn’t make a trend” —unless you’re the leftist CBC and are “DESPERATE”—or are at least prepared—to forecast or question or portend something extremely serious: a full-on U.S. recession, which despite their efforts, still has not occurred in the the United States.

Lets analyze how a “trend” magically starts:

These are screen captures from just one morning on the CBC last January. (Bear in mind this is but one morning, and this kind of crap reporting of “news” takes place most every day, and not just on CBC but all of liberalvision.)

The day starts out with a statement (by way of their infamous scare banners in the bottom third of the screen) declaring that the U.S. is in recession.  It’s an outright lie. It was not, and still is not in recession.  And that’s the scientific truth which cannot be argued.  But never mind, this is the CBC.  As you know, “one month doesn’t make a trend”.  What makes a trend, is what the CBC tells you makes a trend.  Like gay marriage. “Man-made global warming”.  “Canadians want a carbon tax”.  Etc.

image image

image

Later in the day, after declaring a recession, they decided to ask an expert.  Here’s an expert secured by the CBC back in January to help bolster their big question about a recession.  But apparently the CBC doesn’t want to believe him, or at least questions him with that big old question mark, despite the fact that what he tells us all is THERE IS NO RECESSION!  That was a fun segment.
image  image

After that segment proved it’s no longer a statement of fact (darn the luck, huh CBC?!)  it remains a scary question, even when speaking to the socialist network’s business expert (below, left) who must have heard their own earlier report (he doesn’t mention it in this report).
image  image

In later segments they continued to quote the one economist in the U.S. who cried “recession”, but failed to quote the man—their own expert—who said there wasn’t a recession.  So they reported what they decided to report rather than telling you all the information at their disposal —news which even they earlier uncovered (much to their apparent chagrin).

Later, the 11:30 AM PT segment still portended (…hoped for?… put out there… questioned, despite what they know…) a recession in the U.S.
image

In other words, they failed utterly as a reliable source of news.  They misinformed you.

EXTRA

Today, while the business expert on the oxymoronic socialism-reliant state-owned media informs Canadians about the “less ugly” enormous rise in the housing starts in the U.S., right over Jeannie Lee’s left shoulder (see top picture), the Toronto Stock Market (TSX) is at a record high—the highest it’s ever been in history.  It’s happening right behind her back.  She says not one word about it in that report.

MISSING: CBC story on historic record high Toronto Stock Market close

Actually, sorry, this marks the 800th time the state-owned socialism-reliant CBC has purposely ignored historic record high closes of any stock market.

This excellent news, pro-Canadian story of interest and great importance to millions upon millions of Canadians, but which the CBC doesn’t want anybody to know about, can be found in the far-left, but occasionally not quite as utterly daft, Toronto Star

TSX up 201.75 to 14,828.06.

I’ll say it:  Yay.

I don’t know whose side the state-owned, state-run CBC is on, but personally, I’m on Canada’s side.

Once again stock market blasts through historic record high; CBC oblivious

image of CBC's 'Plunge-o-Meter' when stock markets were going down -- never has been a 'Rise-o-Meter' The TSX stands at a record 14,803 right now, the highest it’s ever been in history, and in New York the Dow is also doing well lately. And the CBC is reporting virtually nothing, again.  And therefore they’re misinforming you.

To get the attention of the liberal-leftist media like CBC, an oil company or a bank has to make a profit.  Then there’s a five-part “Passionate Eye” series on Newsworld about the evils of capitalism.  Or state funding has to be reduced for Canada’s “artists”, or Suzuki-forbid, the sacred CBC.

Whenever the market takes a big drop, the CBC is all over it like rats to a carcass. For example, one day when they smelled delicious yummy free-market capitalist stock market calamity, they deployed a little graphic in the top right of the state-owned CBC Newsworld screen all day long, which I dubbed their “Plunge-o-Meter” (see at left).  They’ve never had a “Rise-o-Meter”.  I do believe they’re pimping for a recession and a stock market fall.

In other economy-related news today, General Motors, Chrysler, and the Canadian Auto Workers’ Union Party (CAW, um, P) have struck a tentative deal ensuring assembly line workers (and reliably left-wing-voting automatons) will retain their “sustainable” “living wage” of well in excess of $70 per hour in wages and benefits.  It sure is surprising that GM and all the others are having such a tough go at it these days with paltry wages like that.
image - Buzz_Hargrove_and_Paul_Martin
Far-left Liberal Premier Dalton McGuinty of the Soviet Republic of Ontario has already paid GM a quarter of a BILLION taxpayer dollars since his swearing-in as Premier (sorry—not paid, “invested”—which is a socialist code for welfare or yummy spending of your tax dollars which we need more of by the way).

You should by now know that this corporate welfare is nothing less than another cog in the liberal-left Fabian socialist wheel.  All liberals and leftists in Canada help drive this Fabian socialist wagon.  The destination is a Canada in which every single person and company is totally reliant upon the state and its giant nanny-state welfare teats for their very survival, thereby ensuring liberal-left nanny-state teat-sucking votes and cash and support at election time, as a matter of survival.  This is what is really meant by “progressive”!  And if I understand liberals correctly, this surrender of all personal (and corporate) responsibility and self-reliance to the state, is of course a “Canadian Value”

The leftist McGuinty also demands that the federal Harper Conservatives similarly “invest” in the giant auto corporations, which together form one of the few remaining viable industries in the totally America-reliant Ontario Republic.  This is not free-market capitalism.  This demand for more massive state “investment” in private corporations is actually code for “fascism” or at best, “communism”…  again, that’s “fascism” and “communism”.  Liberals simply call it “Tuesday”.

But their fawning news media isn’t taking that angle, shockingly.  No.  They’re instead all over the rabidly anti-conservative and ardent, militant socialist union boss and party leader Buzz Hargrove’s every word, and only his seemingly sacred word.  Every single thought he has about the deal is reported verbatim, including video footage, and of course reports of his gratuitous political bashing of Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his demand that the government—politicians—(with them big honkin’ teats!) “get off their asses”, and save their increasingly fat asses, as is increasingly perceived to be the duty of government according to socialists.  (“Buzz” has to speak through the media in this way, because unlike most other dinosaur socialists, he doesn’t yet have a seat in the House of Commons, and hasn’t yet been appointed to the liberal benches of the liberals’ Senate division.)

Not one word is presented in the media—at least not on the state-owned CBC—from the other side in the deal, the GM or Chrysler executives.  Or even an economics professor who isn’t also a Marxist (granted, they may have to call an American university for that).  What the companies—or, say, an actual free-market capitalist or a spokesman from the Canadian Taxpayer Federation—says or thinks matters not one wit to the leftist media.  It’s all about what the far-left union boss thinks.  And how it affects their socialist goals.

And therefore, again, the news media is misinforming you.

Former CBC Editor-in-Chief takes job with al-Jazeera

UPDATED BELOW:

Thanks to emailers who sent me this article appearing in several papers, with emailer John headlining his: “Beheading at eleven”.

Former CBC editor-in-chief to take reins at al-Jazeera’s English network

Canwest News Service
Published: Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Tony Burman has taken on a new role with al-Jazeera as the Middle Eastern broadcaster’s managing director for its English-language station.
[...]
The appointment, announced Wednesday morning, will have Burman based in Doha, Qatar at the broadcaster’s headquarters.

Perhaps the CBC wasn’t anti-American enough.

UPDATE:

A reader reminds me that the CBC’s Avi Lewis also ditched CBC for more appropriate quarters… and he wasn’t even the first.  I’ve blogged about it before, so I’ll just reproduce it here:

Avi Lewis, who sounds very much like a Communist to me, quits CBC, joins….

image …CTV?  No.
Global TV?  No.
CNN?  No.
NBC News?  No.
ABC News? No.
CBS News?  No.
New York Times? No.
Toronto Star?  No.
Fox News Channel?  Oh my.  Despite my persistent flu, my innate comedy, why she makes my tummy hurt with the laughter.  (And: no.)

The CBC’s now former mouthpiece Avi Lewis, whose left and far-left wing Canadian lineage I famously described here, is joining the anti-American, anti-Western culture nutwork …Al Jazeera.  [National Post article]

imageThis could thus be seen as a horizontal move.  The apparently anti-American, leftist mouthpiece can be expected to regurgitate much the same anti-American material, just from a slightly different network.  (Mercifully, Al Jazeera isn’t broadcast in Canada, though they have been authorized to.)

More organic Canadian humor cannot be found.  This is a gem.  Actually, it’s a joke that has been told before by me.  I blogged about another CBC “reporter” who left that network and made the horizontal move to…. Al Jazeera back in May 2006.

I blogged about Lewis after an edition of another one of his failed CBC shows, “On the Map” (the map apparently referring to a region on Pluto), in which he interviewed the heroic Hirsi Ali.  The quiet, elegant Ali made an even bigger ass out of the evidently America-hating Lewis than I thought humanly possible.  In the interview, Lewis is persistent in his use of America-hating rhetoric, the degree to which is really quite astonishing, until you remember that you’re watching the state-owned, state-run CBC.  [Read my blog entry from back then.

|

Watch the YouTube video of the segment (it’s plain astonishing).]

The picture of Lewis at above right is captioned “The Root Of All Evil”, but inasmuch as it’s somewhat appropriate, it’s actually the CBC’s own somewhat ironic graphic, and it actually refers to a show he hosted on the state-owned, state-run media, about Christianity.  Thus, you see, the title “The Root Of All Evil”.  God love ‘em at the rabidly secular-progressive CBC.

And this one.

Media – including state-owned CBC – totally ignores massive pro-life rally in Ottawa

This reminds me of Orwell’s 1984. And Iran.

Don’t worry, the state-owned CBC and other liberal media isn’t driving an agenda, and don’t worry, what you don’t know won’t inform you.  No.  Don’t worry—Canada and its media isn’t being controlled by liberal-left fundamentalists.  It’s all in your mind.  You’re simply paranoid.  Keep watching the CBC and you will soon be re-programmed and start thinking right (err…left) in no time.

8000-Strong March for Life Gets another National Media Blackout in Canada

By John-Henry Westen

OTTAWA, May 12, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Apart from a few second audio remark on Mike Duffy’s show on CTV there was absolutely no national coverage of the 8000-strong March for Life which took place in the national capital on May 8. The national broadcaster CBC ignored the March despite having given extensive coverage to abortionist Henry Morgentaler earlier this year as he celebrated his Supreme Court victory which struck down any limit on abortion in Canada.

Moreover, CBC has failed to cover the finding of a 1973 private letter from Morgentaler to then-Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau which suggests blackmail which was reported by Macleans magazine. (see coverage: http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2008/may/08050801.html )

The silence of the state-controlled CBC was compared to that of the Chinese government media in failing to report on Tiananmen Square. “I guess we should expect that the state media not to want to report on the state-sanctioned holocaust, it was the same in Tiananmen Square” said Mary Ellen Douglas, National Coordinator for Campaign Life Coalition – the group which organized the march.

The National Post and the Globe and Mail carried nothing on the March, and even the local Ottawa Citizen had nothing to say.

One local paper, The Ottawa Sun carried a photo of the march on the front page and contained a very short story.

“A massive anti-abortion march wound its way from Parliament Hill to the Human Rights Monument on Elgin St. Thursday, creating some major traffic headaches in the downtown core,” reported the Sun in its first line. The rest of the coverage on the March dealt with a police officer who was struck by a car while re-directing traffic from the route of the March. Of note, the Ottawa Citizen covered the fact that the police officer was hurt without mentioning the March. …

When I did a search for “March For Life”, one of the only news media-related things that popped up was “FOXNews.com – March for Life Rally Draws Thousands to D.C. …”

Let’s continue to fund the left-wing agenda-driving CBC with our tax dollars so we can be misinformed some more and our kids can grow up to be misinformed, socialist dumbasses.

Time Magazine: “Want to wreck the environment? Have a baby.” – Prince Philip Concurs

LONDON, May 13, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A feature in the current issue of Time Magazine asks a rhetorical question, “What’s an an environmentally conscious parent to do?” Time’s Pamela Paul gives the response most frequently pushed by radical environmentalists, saying the answer is ‘don’t have children’. In a television interview this week, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, concurs, saying the recent increase in global food prices is due to too many children. At the same time, the Italian Prime Minister is seeking ways to turn around his country’s disastrously low birth rate that currently stands at well below replacement level. …

CTV with good news story from Afghanistan; CBC with no such story.

It’s extremely rareextremely—and I would know because I desperately hunt them down—that we see stories like this in the Canadian media at all.  Not that the stories aren’t out there—they are.  There’s lots of bad news, but good news stories are all over Afghanistan and Iraq.  It’s just that the liberal-left agenda-driven anti-war media doesn’t capture them and report them.  On purpose.  And hearing the good with the bad helps inform us with regard to our stance on the ongoing mission.  And in a democracy, that stance is important.

The media knows that.

Here’s one rare semi-good-news story from the CTV this morning.  Savor it.

General proclaims progress in Afghan mission

Updated Tue. May. 13 2008 8:40 AM ET
CTV.ca News Staff

Canada’s outgoing commander in Afghanistan believes he’s ending his tour with real progress being achieved in some of Kandahar’s toughest districts.

In the Zhari and Panjwaii districts, families that left because of conflict are now returning to their homes, Brig.-Gen. Guy Laroche told CTV’s Canada AM on Tuesday. …

How come we almost never hear, see, or read stories like this (I honestly don’t recall even ONE) on the liberals’ state-owned media —that dreadful billion-dollar-per-year taxpayer-funded for no apparent reason CBC?  Is it a lack of state-funding?  Yes.  That must be it.

Ironically, in juxtaposition to the CTV story, the CBC.ca multi-gazillion-dollar people’s web site managed to pump out this contra-information story this morning:

…About 1,200 families — an estimated 7,000 people — have left their homes in recent weeks because of the fighting in Garmser…

Joel’s useful liberal media code-cracking thought for the day:
Not informing you is informing you.

They have reporters over there, but as you can see, they’re all busy reporting “other angles” to the story.  Again that’s “other angles”.  (And when they do, they sometimes refer to the war on terror as “the so-called war on terror” and call Canada’s enemies “militants” which by moral-relativist design, is not unlike what we could call our own soldiers.  They’re all militants—they’ve all got their points of view! and they’re all valid!  Who are we to judge?!  The CBC makes it as apparent as possible that they aren’t on any side, not even yours and your country’s.)

If you were like one of the many uninformed Canadians who only watch CBC (because you’re like, say, one socialist blog commenter here a couple months ago whose comments was, “Well I’d rather watch the CBC than the ‘corporate-owned’ media!”  (—and then later denied being a socialist when I called him on it)) you wouldn’t have seen or read this rare, half positive news story.  And your opinion of the mission in Afghanistan would be shaped by that lack of information —that misinformation.  Repeat this misinformation scenario a thousand times, and whadayaknow, folks like you become one more of the far-left’s anti-war useful idiots brigade; and other “militants” like the Taliban and al-Qaeda grow, train, and make concrete plans to come to our country and kill you and your family.

The CBC.  Making people dumber by the second for decades, on your own dime, but at least it’s a “Canadian Value” (™ Canada’s liberal-left).

State-owned and state-run media should be banned in this country, and that notion should be enshrined in our constitution.

Toronto Stock Market now at all-time record high; where’s the CBC “Rise-o-Meter”?

image The TSX is at its all-time record high right now, but the liberals’ state-owned CBC Newsworld (channel 390 on my dial) isn’t deploying anything like what I called its “Plunge-o-Meter”, complete with its usual dire, dour warnings, as did when the market went down a while back.

I really wonder why.  Could it be that the CBC hates it when capitalism is doing well, and loves it when it is not?  After all, the state-owned CBC absolutely relies on socialism for its survival.
